Are buckets and cups kosher or kosher-certified?

Our buckets and cups are generally not kosher-certified. Food contact compliance or the use of plastics such as polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE) does not automatically mean that a packaging product is kosher-certified.

For a kosher assessment, components other than the main polymer may also be relevant. These may include additives, processing aids, colourants or other substances whose composition and origin can vary depending on the material and manufacturer.

In the manufacture of plastics, certain formulations may use processing aids or additives whose raw materials can be of animal origin. Whether this is relevant for a specific product and how such a substance is assessed under the applicable kosher requirements cannot therefore be determined solely from the designation of the plastic, such as PP or PE.

A binding statement regarding kosher suitability can therefore only be made on a product-specific basis using the available manufacturer information or an appropriate kosher certification.

If you require kosher-related confirmation for your application, please let us know the specific product and your requirements. We will be happy to check which manufacturer or material information is available for the respective product.

Kosher and plastic packaging – explained in brief

Question Answer What this means for our buckets and cups
Are our buckets and cups kosher-certified? Kosher certification requires an appropriate assessment or certification according to the requirements of the respective certification body. Our buckets and cups are generally not kosher-certified.
Are PP or PE automatically kosher? The designation of the main polymer alone does not provide a binding kosher classification of the finished packaging product. In addition to the main polymer, additives, processing aids, colourants and other components may also be relevant.
Can components of animal origin be relevant? Certain plastic formulations may use processing aids or additives whose raw materials can be of animal origin. Whether this applies to a specific product must be assessed on the basis of the relevant material and manufacturer information.
Does food contact compliance also mean kosher suitability? No. Food contact compliance and kosher assessment are based on different requirements. Compliance with food contact legislation therefore does not constitute kosher certification.
Can Bikapack issue kosher certification? A binding kosher certification cannot be replaced by a general declaration from a distributor. However, we can check which product-specific manufacturer or material information is available for the requested product.
What should I do if I have a kosher requirement? Requirements may differ depending on the application, product and certification body involved. Please provide us with the specific product and the confirmation or documentation you require.

Important distinction

Food contact compliant, kosher-suitable and kosher-certified are not the same. Food contact compliance assesses the suitability of packaging for contact with food according to the applicable legal requirements. A kosher assessment considers additional religious requirements relating to materials, ingredients and, where applicable, manufacturing processes.

If you require kosher-related information for a specific bucket or cup, we will be happy to check the manufacturer information available for the respective product.
