Are buckets and cups halal or halal-certified?

Our buckets and cups are generally not halal-certified. Food contact compliance or the use of plastics such as polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE) does not automatically mean that a packaging product is halal-certified.

For a halal assessment, components other than the main polymer may also be relevant. These may include additives, processing aids, colourants or other substances whose composition and origin can vary depending on the material and manufacturer.

In the manufacture of plastics, certain formulations may use processing aids or additives whose raw materials can be of animal origin. Whether this is relevant for a specific product and how such a substance is assessed under the applicable halal requirements cannot therefore be determined solely from the designation of the plastic, such as PP or PE.

A binding statement regarding halal compliance can therefore only be made on a product-specific basis using the available manufacturer information or an appropriate halal certification.

Can Bikapack issue halal confirmation? A binding halal certification cannot be replaced by a general declaration from a distributor. However, we can check which product-specific manufacturer or material information is available for the requested product.
What should I do if I have a halal requirement? Requirements may differ depending on the application, customer, market and certification body involved. Please provide us with the specific product and the confirmation or documentation you require.

Important distinction

Food contact compliant, halal-compliant and halal-certified are not the same. Food contact compliance assesses the suitability of packaging for contact with food according to the applicable legal requirements. A halal assessment considers additional religious requirements relating to materials, ingredients and, where applicable, manufacturing processes.
