Do accessibility requirements apply to this B2B online shop?

Our online shop is intended exclusively for business customers (Business-to-Business, B2B). Orders are only possible after successful registration and verification of business status.

Consumers within the meaning of § 1 of the Austrian Consumer Protection Act (KSchG) are expressly excluded from making purchases. Due to this orientation, our online shop is not subject to the legal requirements for digital accessibility, as these apply solely to public bodies or consumer-oriented offers.

Legal Basis: The Web Accessibility Act (WZG) transposes Directive (EU) 2016/2102 and obliges only public bodies in Austria to make their websites accessible. The Accessibility Act (BaFG), which transposes Directive (EU) 2019/882 (“European Accessibility Act”) and enters into force on 28 June 2025, applies only to products and services intended for end consumers. Article 2(1) of Directive (EU) 2019/882 explicitly states that the provisions do not apply to B2B offerings.

Since our online shop is accessible exclusively to business customers with a verified business account, the provisions of Directive (EU) 2019/882 and the BaFG do not apply. Our commitment: Despite the absence of a legal obligation, we place great importance on user-friendly design. Summary
