Are filled containers allowed to be shipped by parcel service?

We generally advise against shipping via parcel service or post. Transport places significant stress on buckets and containers, as parcels are often exposed to impacts or drops. This can cause lids to open or containers to become damaged. For this reason, we cannot guarantee that the goods will arrive intact.

Neither manufacturers, dealers, nor parcel carriers accept liability for such transport damage. The safest option is palletized shipping by freight carrier.

Shipping Methods Compared – Parcel Service vs. Freight Forwarder

Criterion Parcel Service / Postal Freight Forwarding / Pallet Shipping
Type of Transport Individual parcels are sorted and transferred multiple times Secured pallets with minimal manual handling
Shock and Drop Load High stress from conveyor belts and drops up to 1 m Very low stress – enclosed transport route
Packaging Safety Lids may loosen; containers may deform or crack Stable protection through wrapping and pallet stacking
Liability No liability for burst lids or deformed containers Transport damage typically covered by freight liability
Recommended Method Not recommended Recommended

Note

Plastic containers such as buckets or cups are sensitive to impact. Pallet shipping via freight forwarding offers the best protection against transport damage and ensures safe arrival.
