What is a short handle?

A short handle – also called a compact handle – is a shortened bucket handle that fits neatly around the upper rim of the container. Unlike traditional longer handles, it does not cover printed designs or important product information and does not interfere with filling, closing, stacking, or transport.

Despite its compact form, carrying strength and comfort remain the same as with conventional handles. This modern handle design offers many practical advantages: It simplifies palletizing and carton packing, as there are no protruding parts. For food and feed applications, it is more hygienic because it provides fewer areas where dirt or bacteria can accumulate.

It is also much easier to process on automatic packaging lines since it no longer interferes with destacking or conveying operations.

Short handles are also more sustainable – reduced material use lowers both energy consumption and CO₂ emissions during production.

As an example, the modernized 2.5 L rectangular bucket was tested with the new short handle, achieving a static load capacity of 7.5 kg over 8 hours and a tensile strength exceeding 18 kg.

These values confirm the handle’s stability and reliability..
